ACE Academy Shanty Raffle

The ACE Shanties Project was spearheaded by C.D. Smith Construction’s Foundation Committee with material donations provided by a variety of local businesses. The project began in May of 2019 with blueprints, construction began in September of the same year, and the project was completed in early 2020.

To raise funds for the A.C.E. Academy and raffle partners, Foot of the Lake Fishing Club, one of the shanties will be raffled off during the Sturgeon Spectacular festivities on Sunday, February 13th at 2pm. Walk through the shanty and see what it’s like to be out on the ice with the other 10,000+ spearers out on the lake prior to giveaway.

Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Championship presented by Grande Cheese @ Downtown, outside Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts

The best snow sculptors in the state travel to Fond du Lac to compete in the 2022 Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Competition in hopes of winning a trip to the 2023 US Championship and a $1,000 1st Prize.  Sculpting all weekend long.

Daily Schedule:
*Some teams compete well into the early morning hours.  Hours vary by day/team.

Running of the Sturgeon Bar Crawl @ Downtown Fond du Lac

The Running of the Sturgeon will take a new form in 2022 where you can follow the elusive sturgeon to any of our participating locations.  If you spot the sturgeon and can “spear him”, ask him for a drink and he cannot refuse.  Find the sturgeon at any of the locations listed below between 5:30pm and 8:00pm for your free drink.  Must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol.

THELMA Kick-off Celebration

The Sturgeon Spectacular kicks off at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts on Friday night!

THELMA is bringing Northsoul.  Enjoy music inside THELMA and warm up by dancing or enjoying a hot beverage! Plus watch the snow sculptors get their pieces started! Drink specials will be available for purchase steps away inside THELMA’s art gallery including spiked hot cocoa and more.

Northsoul Concert starts at 8 pm

Cash Bar will be open starting at 7pm
Ticketed reserved seating is also available.

Feb 12 – Feb 13 all-day
Visit Downtown Snow Land all weekend long. Bring the kids and play on the Big Hill, or join in the amateur snow sculpting competition, open curling, and other activities on Saturday and Sunday!
 
Get your teams together to create your own snow sculpture, just like the professionals.  You will create your own snow form, sculpt and shape it until you’ve created your very own masterpiece.  Teams should consist of 1 – 4 individuals and they can range in age.  Families welcome.

Amateur Snow Sculpting Competition @ Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts
Feb 12 @ 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Come solo or get your family/teams together to create your own snow sculpture, just like the professionals.  You will create your own snow form, sculpt and shape it until you’ve created your very own masterpiece.  Teams should consist of 1 – 4 individuals and they can range in age.  Check-in will be starting at 12:30pm in the THELMA lobby.  Pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee availability of snow blocks and tools.
