WISSA 2019 Ice & Snow Sailing World Championships @ 1/2 mile off shore from Sunset on the Water Grill & Bar

Get ready for the pinnacle in ice and snow sailing. The Alliant Energy World Ice and Snow Sailing Championships come back to Fond du Lac in 2019. The event will be held on the southeast corner of Lake Winnebago and will feature racers from around the globe.  If you interested in competing, please visit WISSA 2019.

Downtown Spear the Beer Specials

Purchase a commemorative Sturgeon Spectacular mug at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts all weekend – while supplies last (Must be 21 years or older).   You can then use that mug to “Spear the Beer” and other drink specials at participating downtown locations.  No alcohol consumption or possession will be allowed outside of each establishment or event space.

Bring the whole family out to the Children’s Museum for indoor and outdoor fun! Activities may include: design your own sturgeon fish decoy, construct a mini shanty, take a picture with the Museum’s giant Paper Mache sturgeon replica, enjoy hot cocoa and snacks, and explore the Museum’s exhibits including an outdoor sturgeon fishing simulation.  Fun for all ages.

Come and join us for a scenic run throughout Lakeside Park.  The courses will wind through Lakeside Park and tour Oven Island & Softball Island. Early registration is $10 per person and includes a Sturgeon Spectacular long-sleeve T-shirt.  Late registration (after January 14th) will not include a Sturgeon Spectacular long-sleeve T-shirt.  Agnesian HealthCare is a member of SSM Health.

Online registration will be available through Hometown Tickets beginning on December 13th.  You can also purchase tickets in-person at the Destination Lake Winnebago Region Visitor Center at 23 S. Main Street beginning on December 13th.

Spearing and Beering
presented by Lakefront Brewery @ Lakeside Park Pavilion
Feb 9 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Come to see the Sturgeon Show-off Station, Spearing Exhibit, Family Photo Ops, Bean Bag Tournament and a Lakefront Brewery Party on the edge of the Lake.  Concessions will be offered by the Lakefront Curd Wagon.  Lakefront Brewery, the official beer sponsors of Sturgeon Spectacular will be doing a Special Tapping of a spicy chocolate stout starting at noon – while supplies last!  Spear the Beer Commemorative Mugs will also be avialable – while supplies last.

All sturgeon brought to Show-off Station will be entered into a $500 drawing, as long as it meets the legal limit.  The largest sturgeon brought to Lakeside Park will win the 2019 Biggest Sturgeon Award and a $100 cash prize.

NOTE:  This is not an official weigh-in station.  You must register your sturgeon first to qualify.

All entries must be in by 4:00 pm.  Need not be present to win.

Sample chili at participating businesses and vote for your favorite! 200 first-come, first-serve tickets will be available for $10 (cash or check only) at Hopper’s (77 N. Main) prior to the event. Event check-in and sales of any remaining tickets (if available) will be located at 131 S. Main Street on the day of the event.  Tickets will be available in January.

Downtown Ice Sculpting Competition

Walk through beautiful downtown Fond du Lac to see these talented carvers create works of art right on the sidewalks of downtown.  Get your picture taken with each one.  Grab a map and ballot at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and set out for your favorite masterpiece.  Cash Prizes will be awarded for “Best in Show” and also “The People’s Choice”.  Sculptures will be available for viewing as weather allows.

Spear the Fatty Fat Bike Race
presented by DuTriRun @ Lakeside Park Pavilion

Racers of all levels will race through Lakeside Park and frozen Lake Winnebago.  You can look forward to changes in terrain, new obstacles, an ice-covered sprint for the finish, and so much more at this year’s Spear the Fatty Race presented by DuTriRun.  Demo bikes will be available for anyone interested in trying out a Fat Tire Bike for the first time.  Register information coming soon!

A variety of concessions will be offered by the Curd Wagon and beer specials from Lakefront Brewery.

Outdoor Hockey Alumni Classic presented by Drexel Building Supply @ Outdoor Rink at Lakeside Park

Fond du Lac High School/LP Goodrich Alumni face off against Saint Mary’s Springs Alumni for the 2nd Annual Outdoor Hockey Alumni Classic as part of the Sturgeon Spectacular.  Alumni from both schools test their skills under the lights on an outdoor rink at Lakeside Park.  Come out and cheer for your team!

Come and celebrate a successful first day of sturgeon spearing with all your friends and family.  Boogie & The Yo-Yo’z will be rocking Oven Island at Lakeside Park in our heated tent shelter and event space. Enjoy the music and watch the 2019 Sturgeon Queen be named.   Beer and wine coolers will be available until the party’s over.  Concessions & ATM Services will also be available from Downtown Deli inside the big heated tent.  Lakefront Brewery will also be offering beer specials.
