Come see how water shapes Wisconsin.  Lake Winnebago, along with other waterways of Wisconsin hold a vast amount of culture and history.  Come explore our state’s long relationship with water and the impact we have had on our vast waterways. Exhibit & Panel Discussion @ Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts

Come see a unique exhibit that pays homage to one of our beloved creatures of Lake Winnebago.  To help celebrate the weekend, artists and sturgeon enthusiasts will host this exhibit and panel discussion for an unofficial start to the Sturgeon Spectacular.  Beer, wine and other spirits will be available for purchase.

Make sure to stop and see the beautiful window murals and displays at our participating downtown restaurants, retail and service locations.  Locations will be marked on our Sturgeon Spectacular online map.  Decorations and Painting will begin in January and be available through February.  Come get in the festive spirit and see all the cool and creative scenes.

Shantytown Fun at Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac @ Children's Museum of Fond du Lac
Feb 9 @ 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Bring the whole family out to the Children’s Museum for indoor and outdoor fun! Design your own sturgeon fish decoy, construct a mini shanty, take a picture with the Museum’s giant paper mache sturgeon replica, enjoy hot cocoa and snacks, and explore the Museum’s exhibits including an outdoor sturgeon fishing simulation.  Fun for all ages.  $1 off admission for all Museum guests. Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Competition presented by Sunburst Winter Sports Park @ Downtown, outside Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts

The best snow sculptors in the state and surrounding region travel to Fond du Lac to compete in the 2018 Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Competition in hopes of winning a trip to the 2019 US Competition and a $1,000 1st Prize.  No alcohol consumption or possession will be allowed outside of each establishment or event space.

Downtown Winter Fun presented by Ahern @ Main Street Plaza

Bring the whole family and some friends downtown to participate in a Snowman building competition before the parade kicks off!  Add to the winter wonderland that is the Main Street Plaza.

Running of the Sturgeon Parade presented by Grande Cheese @ Downtown Fond du Lac (Parade Start: Western Ave. & Main St.)

The Sturgeon Spectacular Parade starts with the Running of the Sturgeon.  The first 50 children, ages 15 and under will receive a light-up Sturgeon Fin for participating.  Grab your friends, and dress up in your favorite Wisconsin garb and join Schmooch Schneider in chasing after and spearing the elusive sturgeon.  Floats will have parking available to join the party on Portland Street.

The parade starts at Western Ave. (Fourth St.) & Main St. and turns right at Sheboygan Street.  Ends at Thelma.

Sturgeon Spectacular Kick-off Celebration and Concert @ Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts
Feb 9 @ 6:00 pm

The Sturgeon Spectacular kicks off at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts with live music by Copper Box.  Registration will be open for the 2018 Sturgeon Queen.  Come inside and grab a beverage or hang out on the Plaza and watch the snow sculptors get started. Drinks will be available for purchase.  Food trucks will also be located on-site.

Sample chili at participating businesses and vote for your favorite! 100 first-come, first-serve tickets will be available for $10 (cash or check only) at Hopper’s (77 N. Main) beginning in January 2, 2018 and include up to 15 chili samples and a t-shirt. Event check-in and sales of any remaining tickets (if available) will be located at 131 S. Main Street on the day of the event.

Walk through beautiful downtown Fond du Lac to see these talented carvers create works of art right on the sidewalks of downtown.  Get your picture taken with each one.  Grab a map and ballot at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and set out for your favorite masterpiece.  Cash Prizes will be awarded for “Best in Show” and also “The People’s Choice”.  Sculptures will be available for viewing as weather allows.

Studio 51 – Learn the Basics of Snow Sculpting

Open Sculpt
Create your own snow sculpture presented by Ahern @ Main Street Plaza

Professional sculptor, Don Berg will work with individuals and families to create their own snow sculpture, just like the professionals.  You will create your own snow form, sculpt and shape it until you’ve created your very own masterpiece.  All those that participate in the Studio 51 – Learn the Basics of Snow Sculpting will be assured a block of snow to sculpt.
