WISSA 2019 Ice & Snow Sailing World Championships @ 1/2 mile off shore from Sunset on the Water Grill & Bar

Get ready for the pinnacle in ice and snow sailing. The Alliant Energy World Ice and Snow Sailing Championships come back to Fond du Lac in 2019. Visit Downtown Snow Land presented by Ahern. Bring the kids and play on the Big Hill, or join in the amateur snow sculpting competition and other activities on Saturday and Sunday!
 
Get your teams together to create your own snow sculpture, just like the professionals.  You will create your own snow form, sculpt and shape it until you’ve created your very own masterpiece.  Teams should consist of 2 – 4 individuals and they can range in age.  Reach out to Pete Wilke at pwilke@fdl.com to sign up.  First 20 teams will be accepted, so sign up before it’s too late. Purchase a commemorative Sturgeon Spectacular mug at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts or the Spearing & Beering Lakefront Brewery tent at Lakeside Park all weekend – while supplies last (Must be 21 years or older).   You can then use that mug to “Spear the Beer” and other drink specials at participating downtown locations as well.  No alcohol consumption or possession will be allowed outside of each establishment or event space.

Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Competition
presented by Sunburst Winter Sports Park @ Downtown, outside Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts

The best snow sculptors in the state and surrounding region travel to Fond du Lac to compete in the 2019 Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Competition in hopes of winning a trip to the 2020 US Championship and a $1,000 1st Prize.  No alcohol consumption or possession will be allowed outside of each establishment or event space.

FSI Home Run Derby @ Softball Island – Lakeside Park

Dust off your bat and come test your power at the 1st Ever Winter Home Run Derby hosted by Fond du Lac Softball, Inc.  This should be the snowiest home run derby you’ve ever seen!  Come back for the coolest softball tournament around starting Saturday morning after the Fun Run. There will be a $1,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Road Trip will be playing afterward in a huge heated tent on Oven Island.  Open to 21+ only!  Don’t forget your ID.  Check out the Fish Fry and Lakefront Beer Specials at Lakeside Pavilion as well.

Running of the Sturgeon Parade @ Downtown Fond du Lac (Parade Start: Western Ave. & Main St.)

The Sturgeon Spectacular Parade starts with the Running of the Sturgeon.  Grab your friends, and dress up in your favorite Wisconsin garb and join Schmooch Schneider in chasing after and spearing the elusive sturgeon.  Floats will have parking available to join the party on Portland Street.  If you’d like to join the festivities, please reach out to Pete Wilke at pwilke@fdl.com for a parade application.

The parade starts at Western Ave. (Fourth St.) & Main St. and turns right at Sheboygan Street.  Ends at Thelma.

Downtown Curling Funspiel
presented by Horicon Bank @ ModTruss Headquarters

Presented by Horicon Bank, learn to Curl with curling experts from the state and participate in the Inaugural Downtown Curling Fond du Lac Funspiel. This tournament is designed to teach beginners the world of curling and have some fun in the process. Each match will last about one half hour. All curling equipment will be provided. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday (& Sunday, if necessary). Open to all ages and levels. Get your team of 4 – 6 people together and sign up.  The winning team will receive a Trophy and $250 Cash.  2nd place gets $100 Cash.

Bring the kids as there will be lots of family-friendly activities in the park.

Presented by the Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality and Healing, a certified Yoga instructor will lead you through breathing exercises and yoga poses at beautiful Lakeside Park.  Clear your head and stretch before your run, race or before your game gets started. Open to all.  No charge!

Bring the whole family out to Lakeside Park to participate in our Winter Fun Zone.  Activities/attractions include the biggest snowman in Fond du Lac, Photo Ops,  Build the Best Snowman Competition, A snowball target range, and many more winter activities for the kids.

Come meet the sled dogs of the Siberian Outpost sled dogs and sign up for a free dog sled ride through Lakeside Park.  The kids will love it!

All sturgeon brought to Show-off Station will be entered into a $500 drawing, as long as it meets the legal limit.  The largest sturgeon brought to Lakeside Park will win the 2019 Biggest Sturgeon Award and a $100 cash prize.

NOTE:  This is not an official weigh-in station.  You must register your sturgeon first to qualify.
96-1 The Rock will be doing a Live Remote from 11am – 1pm.

Main Street on the day of the event.  Tickets will be available starting January 4th.  Cost of tickets will include an “I Survived the 2019 Downtown Fond du Lac Chili Crawl T-shirt”.

Walk through beautiful downtown Fond du Lac to see these talented carvers create works of art right on the sidewalks of downtown.  Get your picture taken with each one.  Grab a map and ballot at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and set out for your favorite masterpiece.  Cash Prizes will be awarded for “Best in Show” and also “The People’s Choice”.  Sculptures will be available for viewing as weather allows.

Spear the Fatty Fat Bike Race

Racers of all levels will race through Lakeside Park and frozen Lake Winnebago.  You can look forward to changes in terrain, new obstacles, an ice-covered sprint for the finish, and so much more at this year’s Spear the Fatty Race presented by DuTriRun.  Registered racers will receive a finisher’s medal, goody bag, Spear the Beer Mug with one free beer, and food.

A variety of concessions will be offered by the Curd Wagon and beer specials from Lakefront Brewery.

Fond du Lac High School/LP Goodrich Alumni face off against Saint Mary’s Springs Alumni for the 2nd Annual Outdoor Hockey Alumni Classic as part of the Sturgeon Spectacular.  Alumni from both schools test their skills under the lights on an outdoor rink at Lakeside Park.  Come out and cheer for your team!

Come and join us for a scenic run throughout Lakeside Park.  The courses will wind through Lakeside Park and tour Oven Island & Softball Island.  Late registration (after January 17th) will not include a Sturgeon Spectacular long-sleeve T-shirt.  Agnesian HealthCare is a member of SSM Health.

Tickets will be available  after December 1st.  You can also purchase tickets in-person at the Destination Lake Winnebago Region Visitor Center at 23 S. Main Street.
